Fans have been eagerly anticipating any news regarding the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. The original 1997 horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer has maintained its place as a fan-favorite over the decades. Now, however, a new cast has been announced to lead the I Know What You Did Last Summer story for a new generation.
As shared by THR, the new film is being scheduled for a release next year, and now the new cast is being prepared for this year’s shoot. The outlet notes that Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline will be teaming up with Riverdale star Camila Mendes to lead the new movie’s ensemble.
In addition to Cline and Mendes, negotiations are currently being held with Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King to also star in the movie. It’s been previously reported that both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. could also reprise their roles for the reboot.
Hewitt and Prinze Jr. starred in the original two I Know What You Did Last Summer films. Fans have been eager to have them back ever since the third installment went in a completely different direction. Now, decades later, we could finally have our chance to see them back.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot is being directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson with a screenplay penned by Robinson and Sam Lansky. The initial script was written by Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz is attached as a producer.
