The promotional materials for Longlegs have certainly teased that the film will be a tense and horrific venture for viewers. However, the latest promo reveals that it was also tense for the film’s cast – with Maika Monroe having been recorded with a high BPM while working on Longlegs.
Specifically, Monroe’s heartrate was being recorded while shooting the scene in which she meets Nicolas Cage as the titular serial killer. Cage’s appearance in the film is said to be completely unlike himself, with the promotional materials additionally keeping his look under wraps.
As viewers wait to see what the appearance of Cage will be ahead of the film’s release date, Neon released an all-new teaser featuring the scene in which Maika Monroe’s character sees Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs. It’s a tense setup with a recording of Monroe’s heartrate placed over the audio.
The footage is accompanied by a note that says Monroe’s resting heart rate is 76 BPM. During the making of this scene, however, her heart rate went up to 170 BPM. This can be quite high and even potentially dangerous for someone that’s older. Here’s the clip:
It’s an impressive way to continue marketing a film which has already been given such an incredible marketing campaign. Longlegs has certainly been teased as a dirty, scary, haunting kind of horror movie – and this new promo only proves that the film’s cast had a rather intense time themselves making it.
