We live in a time when sequels are quite often being put into development. Nevertheless, that doesn’t make the wait for some highly-anticipated continuations any easier. Now fans are being treated to a sequel for a fan-favorite movie that finally begins filming this summer.
The upcoming sequel will continue the story established in its 2021 predecessor. The 2021 film was rather well-received upon release, so it’s actually quite surprising for everyone that it’s taken this long to come together. While the first film’s star will return for this second outing, however, it’s been revealed that the original director will not.
This surprising announcement – including the change in directors revealed that production will begin in a few months in August, so it’s finally time for these details to come to light. Here’s what Variety shared:
“Bob Odenkirk is back for more ‘Nobody ‘ — this time with a different director.”
The outlet adds that while the first film was directed by Ilya Naishuller, this second entry in the Nobody franchise will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto. Fans may be familiar with Tjahjanto’s work in the horror genre, with credits including segments in V/H/S/2 and V/H/S/94 in addition to The Night Comes for Us.
While Nobody 2 is currently slated to begin production in August, it won’t be released until August 15, 2025. This will give the studio about a year to get the film put together and into theaters. After the success of its predecessor, however, it’s understandable that they want to make sure everything is done properly for this follow-up.
As of this writing, other than Bob Odenkirk, the only confirmed cast member is Connie Nielsen as Becca Mansell. Her character is the wife of Odenkirk’s character. More details should be released in the coming months.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Nobody 2 as we have them. For now, it’s quite exciting to see that the sequel to Nobody will finally begin filming soon. Especially with Bob Odenkirk returning as the lead.
