It was first revealed in 2022 that a Japanese man named Toco spent $14,000 to achieve his lifelong dream of becoming an animal. Of course, his ability to transform into a collie was limited to a realistic costume created by a company called Zeppet. Now, however, the anonymous man has changed his mind about being a collie after finding it “very difficult” to walk like a dog in his $14,000 costume.
It seems as though Toco’s goals went far beyond merely appearing like a dog. He wanted to be able to move like one as well. However, footage of Toco performing an agility test in his collie suit clearly did not go as planned. As shared by Japanese news outlet WanQol via Daily Mail, he was unable to make the correct movements while in his costume.
Here’s what he shared:
“Dogs and humans have different bone structures and the way they bend their legs and arms, so it’s very difficult to make movements that look like this. I might realistically be able to become another dog, a panda or a bear, a fox or a cat would also be nice, but they are too small for humans to try.
“I’d like to fulfill my dream of becoming another animal someday.”

Though his collie costume didn’t work out, and becoming a cat would certainly be too difficult given the size of said animals, it looks like pandas or bears are very real possibilities. The anonymous Japanese man also seems open to becoming another type of dog or even a fox as well if he found a costume that allowed it.
Ultimately, it’s an interesting experiment to see unfold. Even if he was unable to pass the agility test, Toco’s collie costume was still genuinely realistic-looking if nothing else.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Toco and his journey to becoming an animal as we have them. Though his goal to become a collie didn’t quite work out as planned, it seems as though Toco isn’t giving up completely just yet.
