Evangeline Lilly has been a fan-favorite star for years, having become especially popular in recent years for her role as Hope van Dyne aka Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, however, Evangeline Lilly has announced that she’s going to step away from acting.
The 44-year-old celebrity made the announcement on Instagram in addition to a video from 2006 where she previously announced her goals to eventually become a “retired actress.” Now it appears she’s taking the next steps to make that goal a reality.
Here’s what she shared in her caption for the video:
“I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings,” Lilly wrote. “Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong.”
Lilly finished her caption with the following conclusion:
“A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.”

Her career initially began in the early 2000’s with small parts in projects like the television series Smallville and Freddy vs Jason. She later acquired a lead role in the television series Lost. On the film side of things, she went form The Hurt Locker and Real Steel before starring as Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. She then portrayed Hope van Dyne aka Wasp in Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Endgame, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Obviously she has led a rather impressive career, truly climbing up the ladder from small roles to leading parts in major blockbusters. It’s no surprise that she would choose now, then, to step away from acting. But one must wonder if it will be a permanent decision.
