With so many streaming services available to choose from, Netflix remains the biggest of all. Of course, that’s because it’s been available for digital streaming since 2007, and so many users are familiar with its service. What some users might not be familiar with, however, is that Netflix actually has codes for hidden movies and TV shows.
This can certainly be a benefit for any subscribers that struggle looking through the platform’s large selection of content. With so many varying genres and sub-genres, it can certainly get confusing or intimidating to decide what to watch next. Fortunately, these codes make it way easier to access the genres that you might be in the mood for.
As shared by Netflix’s own Tudum, the platform has been developing this list of secret category codes since “the earliest days of the company.” At this rate, they’ve managed to put together an astonishing 36,000 codes. This in itself can certainly be overwhelming, but the website puts together a few choice examples that are sure to point users in the right direction.
For starters, users must visit “netflix.com/browse/genre/” in their internet browser. After that, simply add the ID code at the end of the URL to unlock the genre you want to browse. The website notes you if you want “Gentle British Reality TV,” you can use “81240711.” Similarly, “Witchcraft & the Dark Arts” can be accessed with “81552046.” As for “90-Minute Movies,” those can be located using “81466194.”
