Fans of one beloved long-running series will be disappointed to know that one of its spin-offs has been canceled after merely receiving three seasons on the network. Sadly, CBS has decided not to renew the series for a fourth season.
As shared by Deadline, one of the show’s stars, Marg Helgenberger, has opened about the cancellation. She was not only involved with the now-cancelled spin-off series, but she was also involved with its predecessor in which she played Catherine Willows for a fourteen whopping seasons across the original series and its spin-off.
Here’s what she shared via Instagram:
“Each & every person involved with the making of this series brought their A game each & every day,” Helgenberger wrote regarding the series. “It was truly a pleasure & honor to work/play alongside such a fun & talented company of story tellers. Immeasurable thanks & gratitude to all for making this experience such a memorable ride. And to all the fans; we did it all for you.”
A similar statement was shared by her co-star, Lex Medlin, who became a series regular on CSI: Vegas during its second season:
“I am going to miss this cast and crew so very much,” said Medlin. “Most of all I’ll miss Beau. He was so fun to play. Thanks all for the support. On to the next adventure.”
Fortunately, the series hasn’t quite gone off the air just yet. As reminded by Helgenberger, there are still five episodes from the show’s third season that will be airing:
“CSI: Vegas may have been cancelled, but there are still five new episodes left,” she teased.

Viewers will be able to see the finale of CSI: Vegas when it premieres on May 19. It’s certainly disappointing to see that this spin-off hasn’t lasted anywhere near as long as its predecessor, but at least fans had some time to see more adventures with Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine Willows. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding CBS and their shows including the series CSI as we have them.
