Airbnb has offered up a surprising array of movie-inspired houses for travelers to stay in. Now, however, they’re taking things to the next level for a house inspired by Pixar‘s Up. The 2009 animated film featured a house that’s hoisted into the sky by balloons, and Airbnb has done their best to recreate the experience.
Airbnb CEO and co-founder Brian Chesky unveiled the new house based on Up. The house, which is located above the New Mexico desert, is hoisted in the sky by a massive crane. Additionally, the publication notes that the house is “fully functional” as shared by Airbnb. The story notes that the house is “connected to generators and utilities that will be seamlessly managed before and after its flight.”
The house fromDisney’s Up is only one example of many different replicas from varying properties that Airbnb has announced. Of course, having a house that’s actually floating in the sky certainly sets it apart. It’s an ambitious example of what Airbnb hopes to achieve by offering so many unique locations to potential guests.

This was specifically explained in a statement made by Chesky:
“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination — until now,” Chesky began. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”
NYPost even adds how the location will be affordable for guests:
“While previous fantastical listings were exclusive and rare, Airbnb is aiming for broader appeal this time around,” the site reveals, “with an expected 4,000 bookings for these Icons listings in 2024 alone.
“All of the listings are priced under $100 per guest and will be based on a lottery system.”
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Airbnb and their mission to get guests excited by such unique replica locations as we have them. In the meantime, it’s no doubt going to be difficult beating such a feat as recreating the house from Up.
