Netflix has built up a library of fan-favorite shows, many of which are well-known for their beloved casts and recurring characters. As such, it’s always shocking when such a memorable character from one of these Netflix properties is killed off. Now that appears to be the case with a popular Netflix series that’s gearing for a major return.
A new trailer was just released for the highly-anticipated series, which is actually something of a direct follow-up to its predecessor. The sequel series features older versions of its main characters with a brand-new setting to explore. It seems as though the death of one of these characters is the catalyst for their latest adventures.
As you can see below, the character is shockingly killed off in the trailer’s opening moments. The characters continue to adhere to her final wishes as the footage progresses. Though there is a possibility that the character could possibly still be alive, it would also make sense to simply have her killed off.
One such reason being that the animated character is voiced by none other than Jenna Ortega. The character, named Brooklynn, was one of several teen protagonists featured throughout the Netflix animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. It’s this very series that will have its story continued in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
However, Ortega did not return for the follow-up, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. So it appears that not only will her character be recast, but that Ortega’s Brooklynn will also be killed off. This would certainly make sense, especially given Ortega’s busy schedule which includes some massive blockbuster projects.
Here’s the trailer which includes the massive reveal in the opening moments:
Of course, and as mentioned, it’s possible that Brooklynn could survive the events depicted in the trailer’s opening. Perhaps they’re keeping her survival a surprise that will be unveiled by the end of the season. After all, she is a fan-favorite character. While we’ll have to wait until the show’s release to know for certain, however, perhaps it’s best to assume that Brooklynn has officially been killed off.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Jurassic World updates as we have them. Jurassic World: Chaos Theory will be available to stream via Netflix on May 24, 2024.
