One of Netflix’s biggest hits in the last few years has been The Platform. The 2020 sci-fi thriller quickly became one of the streaming service’s most watched movies. As such, it may not be surprising that a sequel is on the way. Now fans can see the first look at The Platform 2.
Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia returned to direct the sequel following his work on the first movie. As for its cast, The Platform 2 stars Milena Smit and Hovik Keuchkerian. Many plot details are being kept under wraps, but there is a new synopsis revealed by Netflix that teases a new take on the concept.
“A mysterious figure has managed to establish a new law in The Platform, but can justice truly be enforced in hell? And who will enforce it?”
It’s an exciting premise, much like that of the original film, and these images do tease a similarly intense film. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon, including when the sequel will be released. In the meantime, here are the official images:

For those unfamiliar with The Platform, the film takes place in a futuristic prison system. The prison, which has been constructed vertically, has a platform lift which brings food from floor to floor. However, prisoners do not ration their food equally, which means those on the higher floors eat much better than those on the lower floors.
The first film follows an individual who tries to change the system – and now we’ll see how The Platform 2 continues to showcase new rules within the prison system.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding The Platform 2 and other upcoming Netflix titles as we have them. One can hope that this new continuation will live up to the success of its predecessor. With the original director involved, however, it’s certainly a good possibility.
