As shared by Deadline, “the potential new Greg Daniels and Michael Koman comedy series in The Office universe has locked in its first two stars.” The two new cast members are sure to excite fans of both The Patient and White Lotus, as they’re none other than Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore.

Additionally, it seems likely that more cast members will be announced soon, as these two are said to be “part of an ensemble.” Other details regarding the project are being kept under wraps, however, with Universal Television merely adding “that the project remains in development.”
As for possibilities for the show’s storyline, Deadline did bring up previous comments from Greg Daniels about what a spin-off could focus on. “The prospective new series, which is not a reboot, is said to be set in a new office with new characters but live within the same world as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series which follows employees at the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company,” the outlet reminds. “Daniels has indicated that a new Office iteration could follow a crew doing a documentary about a different subject.”
The Office ran from 2005 to 2013 on NBC. It was based on the 2001-2003 BBC series of the same name. The series continues to be cited as one of the greatest shows ever made, so any kind of follow-up series or spin-off will have large shoes to fill.
Hopefully more details regarding this spin-off project based on The Office will be released as development continues. In the meantime, these are some promising additions to the show’s ensemble cast and it’ll be interesting to see who else may be announced.
