The new trailer for Trap reveals the return of filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan. He’s crafted some very intriguing, twisted, and memorable horror movies over the years. Now it looks like Trap will continue this streak.
The footage begins with a seemingly-normal father and daughter attending a new pop concert. However, as the trailer progresses, it’s revealed that the concert is actually a massive trap. It’s an attempt to catch a dangerous serial killer known only as “The Butcher.”
In true Shyamalan style, however, we discover that The Butcher has already apparently been introduced to us. It appears that the father, played by Josh Hartnett, could very well be the killer. Of course, given Shyamalan’s directorial skills, anything is possible.
In addition to Hartnett, the cast for the film includes Hayley Mills, Marnie McPhail, Vanessa Smythe, Saleka Shyamalan, Scott Ian MacDougall, Kristi Woods, and Cali Lorella.
Here’s the official trailer for Trap:
The official synopsis for the film is shared as follows:
“A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.”
Shyamalan’s credits include The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village. Other recent hits include The Visit, Split, Glass, Old, and Knock at the Cabin. If the trailer for Trap is any indication, then, this film could certainly be another smash-hit for Shyamalan. The new film is part of a deal Shyamalan made with Warner Bros., which is described as a “multi-year first-look directing and producing agreement.”
Audiences will be able to see Trap in theaters on August 9, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Trap, director M. Night Shyamalan, and other upcoming horror titles as we have them. For now, this looks like a thrilling way to spend some time at the theater in August.
