Many actors have been associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years. Oftentimes they stick around for recurring appearances as fan-favorite comic book characters. Unfortunately, it looks like one such beloved Marvel actor is not expected to return to the MCU.
This actor, associated with all three Ant-Man movies, reveals that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could very well be his final appearance in the long-running superhero franchise. In fact, he even tried to have his character killed off in the blockbuster sequel.
It would have certainly made for a very different film. Especially because the actor discusses what kind of death scene he wanted and how many special effects it would have used. Now, without that, it appears that he just won’t volunteer to appear at all for the next installment.
Here’s what Marvel actor Michael Douglas had to say about his role as Hank Pym and whether or not he’d return while speaking with The View:
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas told The View when asked about his previous comments. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is. I want to use all those effects. But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”
Of course, because he wasn’t killed off, his character could technically still be brought back. But that all depends on Michael Douglas and whether or not he feels like returning to the part again. As always, we’ll have to see what happens.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional MCU updates as we have them. It’s certainly unfortunate that actor Michael Douglas is seemingly unwilling to return to the MCU, but fans will no doubt appreciate the performances he’s delivered to date.
