At a time when Netflix often opts to cancel their shows, fans of one particular reality series will be excited to know it has been renewed for another season. This news comes not long after its second season made it into Netflix’s Global Top 10.
The reality series is part of a larger franchise. This franchise, now in its fifth installment, which includes two for the Australian series, maintains its ability to entertain audiences with its sincere examination of love and relationships within the autism spectrum community.
As such, there are plenty of viewers that resonate with the material presented in the series. Especially if it’s managed to rank so highly on the platform’s Top 10 category. Fans will no doubt be relieved to see it will be renewed then.
The series, titled Love on the Spectrum, is produced by Northern Pictures. Additionally, Variety notes that “the U.S. series’ latest season features a diverse cast ranging from 18-year-old Journey from Chicago, newly diagnosed, to 64-year-old optimist Steve from San Francisco, all sharing their journeys to find love. The show’s impact resonated widely, earning three Primetime Emmy Awards in 2022 for outstanding unstructured reality program, casting and picture editing.”
Lise Smith, the mother of one of the show’s cast members, previously shared the following statement to Variety regarding the positive impact of the series:
“I learned on this journey that he’s craving his identity and social group, which went right over my head. The biggest splash of cold water was when I heard him say to one of the producers, ‘I’m lonely. My siblings have boyfriends and girlfriends, and get to go places. I’m always home with my parents.’ And that hit me like a knife through my chest.”
