Oftentimes, it seems as though television shows are merely only canceled or renewed. Now, however, a beloved CBS show has gone through both. It’s been revealed that this CBS series has been revived for another season after previously being canceled by the network.
Fans will certainly be excited. Especially because it’s been a year since the series was previously canceled and renewed for a then-final season. Interestingly, however, it looks like CBS is no longer advertising this additional season as a finale for the series.
This exciting and unexpected news was shared by Deadline. Here’s what they shared about the CBS series being revived – again:
“S.W.A.T. is not ending after all. Beating the odds a second time, the action drama has been renewed for the 2024-25 season, with Shemar Moore set to continue as star and executive producer.”
The publication adds that the new season will reportedly consist of 22 episodes, and furthermore, the decision was made only recently. S.W.A.T. has been in the midst of production on its seventh season, previously believed to be the last after being revived following a cancellation after six seasons, and it was during “wrapping production on its seventh season” that they decided to renew it again.
The outlet adds that the new season will continue perfectly where the seventh season leaves off:
“According to sources, the finale, which is still filming, was written as a satisfying series finale but also perfectly sets the show for another season, so no last-minute script changes are being made in light of the renewal.”
The series receives very high ratings from viewers, as such, it’s no surprise that CBS would decide to reverse their decision – again – and revive the series for an eighth season. Additionally, it’s very possible that the series will extend beyond this eighth season as well. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding S.W.A.T. as we have them.
