The horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey surprised audiences by taking characters that had just entered the public domain and turning them into slasher villains. Naturally, the Blood and Honey film turned up quite a profit, and it seems to have spawned an entire franchise surrounding the format. Now fans can expect Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 to get underway sooner rather than later.
This news comes just as Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 hits theaters in the United States. As shared by Variety, the new movie “will have a bigger budget than the previous films and will introduce new characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps and the woozles. All will no doubt be given sadistic, murderous twists.”
Additionally, there are other projects already in the works by the creative team behind the first two Blood and Honey films and this upcoming third installment. The projects are being created within the shared universe called the “Twisted Childhood Universe,” with plans to lead up to a massive crossover titled Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.
It’s unknown how exactly this crossover will connect with the third Blood and Honey film, and whether or not we can expect the threequel to be released before or after. But it’s clear that horror fans will have plenty of installments in this growing franchise to look forward to. Hopefully more details will be released in the near future.
Other characters included in the shared universe will be Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, The Mad Hatter, and Sleeping Beauty. With characters and storylines like these to draw from, it’ll certainly be a surprise to see how it all turns out.
