The live-action Barbie film starring Margot Robbie was a massive success. In addition to starring in the film, however, Robbie was also a producer via LuckyChap Entertainment. Now it’s been revealed that Robbie and her fellow LuckyChap partners, Tom Ackerly, Josey McNamara, and Sophia Kerr, are involved with an all-new movie adaptation based on The Sims.

The Sims is one of the most popular video game franchises around. It’s become an iconic title ever since its initial debut in the year 2000. Now, nearly three decades later, The Sims will be hitting the big screen with Margot Robbie involved.

Additionally, insider Jeff Sneider was able to share that Disney Plus series Loki director Kate Herron will be involved to direct the movie based on The Sims. Herron is said to have co-written the screenplay for the film with Briony Redman.

The LuckyChap Entertainment team will produce the film in addition to Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Meanwhile the publisher of the video games, Electronic Arts, is set to be involved in a creative and producing capacity.

Hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future. There are certainly plenty of possibilities that can be explored based on the iconic video games, especially in the same way that Barbie was created as a satirical comedy. The games themselves revolve around virtual people that can be directed and controlled by the player. They mostly feature a sandbox style, which certainly lends itself to the making of a movie where the story can be virtually anything.

Hopefully we’ll have more details soon regarding the feature film adaptation of The Sims. For now, however, fans are no doubt curious to see how this project turns out. If the success of Barbie is any indication, however, then the team at LuckyChap Entertainment definitely knows what they’re doing.
