Many studios are turning to the 1990’s to create the latest wave of reboots and revivals. After all, enough time has passed that the decade has become rather nostalgic like those before it. Interestingly, however, it looks like the next iteration is a Chinese remake of 1997’s Anaconda.
This is already an interesting surprise for fans. However, it’s worth noting that a revival is already reportedly in development in North America, so this means audiences will have at least two new movies to look forward to under this particular brand.
For a series that’s already sparked several sequels and a crossover with another notable franchise, it’s quite impressive. Especially for those who’ve followed along since the original film was released in 1997. It’s covered quite a bit of ground in less than three decades.
The brand-new trailer for the Chinese horror remake, based on the classic fan-favorite Anaconda, can be viewed below. The trailer was just released along with the announcement of the film, which as shared via The Arty Dans, contains the following plot:
“A group of circus performers, on their way to what they think is a new performance location, become stranded in a lush rainforest after the boat they were on, and the captain leading the way, are eaten and destroyed by an anaconda. They cross paths with a deadly poacher who is hunting the anaconda, who realizes that he might now have enough bait to catch him. But being circus performers, they have a few survival tricks up their sleeves.”
The cast of the film is led by Terence Yin and Nita Xia, who star alongside Paul Che, Jiu Kong, Ken Lok, Wang Xing Chen, Wang Gang, Wang Zi Run, Xu Shao Hang, and Wu Hao.
