It’s no surprise that DC has several upcoming film projects in the works. After all, there’s the DCU and a variety of stand-alone projects including Joker: Folie à Deux to look forward to. Unfortunately, it’s been confirmed that one of the most highly-anticipated DC movies has now been given a major delay.
This news was via a new report. According to the publication, this particular delay was given to the DC movie as a result of the recent WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes from last year. Understandably, these strikes have slowed down the productions of numerous Hollywood film and television productions.
Now it looks like this particular delay will force moviegoers to wait an entire year before they’ll be able to see this eagerly-anticipated sequel. Of course, it’s also to make sure that the film comes out the best possible sequel that it can, so it will certainly be worth it.
Here’s what Deadline had to share regarding the delay of the film – The Batman: Part II – which is set to continue Matt Reeves’ story with Robert Pattinson once again starring as Bruce Wayne aka Batman:
“Matt Reeves‘ The Batman 2 is no longer opening on October 3, 2025 — a new launchpad for comic book movies. Instead, it is going a year later on October, 2, 2026.”
On the bright side, there will still be a major superhero blockbuster to be expected for 2025. The new year will actually be the start of the DCU, with James Gunn’s Superman set to launch the shared universe on July 11, 2025. The Batman and The Batman: Part II will exist as their own separate continuity from the DCU, with another Batman film titled Batman: Brave and the Bold set to be released at a later time.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them. It certainly looks like it might be some time before any other updates regarding The Batman: Part II are released, however, so we’ll have to see what happens.
