Before Bill Skarsgård was cast as The Crow in the upcoming movie reboot, many different actors were in talks to play Eric Draven at some point. One of which was Jason Momoa – who even screen tested for the role for a film that was going to be directed by Corin Hardy.
The movie ended up falling apart one month before production was slated to start over what was called “creative and financial differences”. Falling the production being shut down, Momoa giving a long and heartfelt message about the project, saying:
“I’ve waited 8 years to play this dream role. I love you @corinhardy and @sonypictures unfortunately I may have to wait 8 more. Not our team. But I swear I will. James O’Barr sorry to let you down I won’t on the next. This film needs to be set free. And to the fans. Sorry. I can’t play anything but what this film deserves and it needs love. I’m ready when it’s right.”
With the trailer being released for the 2024 version, we felt it would be appropriate to re-visit the test footage – and you can see it below:

It’s definitely interesting to think about what could have been with the project and would have seen Jason Momoa in a much different setting than most comic book fans would be used to in Aquaman. We’re not sure, however, that the movie would have escaped the backlash that the 2024 reboot is facing – as a lot of fans are heavily against a new movie as they feel it destroys the legacy that Brandon Lee left with his 1994 film.
The Crow reboot starring Bill Skarsgård is expected to hit theaters on June 7th.
