The Marvel Cinematic Universe is recognized for a number of major box office hits. Unfortunately, however, The Marvels broke this streak by becoming the MCU’s lowest-grossing movie. Now star Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel in the film and several other MCU projects, has given a blunt response regarding her future in the franchise.
Due to the reception of the film and its financial losses, it’s no surprise that fans are curious about Brie Larson‘s future in the MCU. After all, she would imaginably have a large part to play in the two upcoming Avengers films and perhaps other projects in the works.
On that same note, however, nothing appears to be set in stone. At least that we know about. This was reiterated by Brie Larson in a recent statement she made at the SAG Awards.
As shared via Extra TV she was asked the following question:
“Can you tell us a little bit about Marvel and what’s coming up for you in your next Marvel project?”
“I don’t have anything to say about that,” Larson answers quickly.
It’s possible that they could be reworking upcoming projects to either better suit Larson’s involvement following the storylines introduced in The Marvels, or they could be removing her entirely. We’ll just have to see what those plans turn out to be. There no doubt has to be some kind of rethinking from the studio, however, especially since The Marvels bombed at the box office.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Brie Larson’s unclear future in the cinematic franchise as we have them. Though The Marvels underperformed at the box office, that doesn’t exactly mean it’s the end for Larson’s place in the cinematic universe. Though we’ll have to see what happens in the future for Brie Larson.
