One particular CBS show has defied the odds from being canceled. Unfortunately, it’s finally coming to an end after several years on the air. On the bright side, there is an official ending.
Many shows, especially these days with so many streaming services, find themselves being prematurely cancelled. This particular show moved from CBS to Paramount Plus after its first season. Now the show’s fourth season on Paramount Plus will be its last.
It’s also been confirmed that there are “four additional episodes for the show’s upcoming fourth and final season” that were ordered by Paramount Plus. This will allow the creators to give the series “a proper ending.”
The mystery drama series, titled Evil, has shades of horror for a narrative that isn’t unlike The X-Files or early episodes of Supernatural. The monster of the week formula has been quite popular for decades now, ever since Kolchak: The Night Stalker helped introduce it to television in the early 1970’s.
The show’s creators, Robert and Michelle King who also serve as showrunners, shared the following statement regarding the cancellation via THR:
“We want to thank Paramount+ for giving us four bonus episodes to end Evil in the world in style,” they began. “We will miss this show and cast. In many ways it was a dream project, but sadly evil will outlast Evil. See you in May.”
David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, also shared a statement:
“It’s hard to underscore the ability of Robert and Michelle King to cleverly craft thought-provoking stories that push creative boundaries time and time again, and Evil is no exception,” Stapf shared. “We’re proud to call them partners, and want to thank them both, Liz Glotzer, the entire cast and the crew for bringing these complex characters to life year after year as we celebrate this final season of Evil.”
The four additional episodes are set to begin production in New York. They will then begin to air via streaming in May. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
