The X-Men brand is making a massive comeback. In addition to the newly-released trailer for Deadpool 3, which brings several X-Men characters to the MCU, fans will be getting a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series. The first trailer has just been released for said Marvel revival, which is appropriately-titled X-Men: ’97.
The title is a reference to the year the show ended, 1997, after five seasons beginning in 1992. This new series will act as a sixth season for the show set immediately after X-Men: The Animated Series. The trailer confirms this by starting off right where the original series ended – with the death of Professor Charles Xavier.
As for the characters leading this series, the trailer reveals Cyclops, Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, and Bishop as the main members of the X-Men. It’s likely that plenty of other characters will also be making appearances for this new storyline. Especially with the trailer also teasing the arrival of Magneto.
Here’s the official trailer for the highly-anticipated animated series X-Men ’97:
The cast of the new series includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.
Jake Castorena, Chase Conley, and Emi Yonemura directed episodes of the series which features music by The Newton Brothers. The series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and head writer Beau DeMayo.
