The Marvel Cinematic Universe offers many film and television shows that are provided for longtime fans. After all, it’s quite awarding to see fan-favorite characters or storylines be brought up again so many years later. Now a new rumor suggests that there could be some other surprising MCU character returns for an upcoming Marvel movie.
This particular film, Thunderbolts, has been in production for quite some time. Many familiar characters are intended to make up the titular team. According to this rumor, however, they’re far from the only returning MCU characters.
According to a rumor, two stars that were previously introduced in minor roles could be returning for the team-up movie. This would certainly add an exciting layer to the film’s continuity as it brings together so many MCU characters.
Specifically, Production Weekly revealed that both Rachel Weisz and Laurence Fishburne could reprise their MCU roles for the new film. Fans will recall that Weisz played Melina Vostokoff in Black Widow. She was both the “wife” of Red Guardian and “mother” of Yelena Belova.
As for Fishburne, his character, Bill Foster, was introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp. He appeared in the first Ant-Man sequel with a minor role as he stood by Hannah John-Kame’s Ava Starr aka Ghost.
Obviously these details should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, production seems to be set to begin around March, so it does seem like these casting details could be accurate. If so, then this could be a great way to tie together all of these different characters and their storylines.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional MCU updates as we have them. For now, it’ll be interesting to see if these MCU characters really do make their returns in Thunderbolts. Given who they are, however, it does seem like a strong possibility.
