Marvel Studios is hard at work on multiple projects for the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and with only one movie coming out in 2024, it appears that the amount of output is being scaled back. Despite this, however, some fans are quite displeased with one upcoming movie sequel – and as a result, they want a boycott of it.
Hollywood has become quite divided over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This division has reached social media where users on platforms such as X, formerly known as Twitter, have started to call out actors that they consider “Zionists.”
This includes Israel-born actress Shira Haas who was announced to be playing Sabra in Captain America: Brave New World. Sabra is a superhero known for working with the Mossad, aka Israeli Secret Service, with many of her outfits sporting the colors of the Israeli flag as a result.
Due to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, however, this character is being considered controversial. In fact, some users expected that the character would be removed from the film altogether. Now insider Charles Murphy claims she has not been removed, which seems to have sparked a new wave of backlash.
“I was told they did not,” Charlies Murphy replied when asked “if they removed Sabra from Cap 4″.

Here are the tweets shared by fans in response that want to boycott Captain America: Brave New World:
And Captain America: Brave New World will be the end of Marvel as the majority of those of us who support Palestine will boycott #Disney and all #Marvel movies. The inclusion of #Sabra is an insult to Palestinians who suffer under Israeli Genocide and Brutal Occupation.

Don’t forget to boycott Captain America: Brave New World when it comes out next year.

Sabra is literally the embodiment of the Israeli apartheid state and Marvel is still hellbent on keeping her in the Cap 4 movie to platform Zionism. This is after calls for boycott and demands for rewrites and reshoots which they are doing rn.
I’m so pissed.— cordelia ❄️☀️ | in my addieluc feels (@solinasankta) February 7, 2024
I encourage everyone who supports Palestine and enjoys comics to spread the word of the Marvel boycott to their friends who don’t use social media or Twitter specifically. The more monetary pressure we put on Marvel, the more likely they are to drop Sabra from Cap 4.

We’ll have to see if Marvel Studios decides to react to the backlash or if they’ll continue to introduce the character to the MCU as planned. Likewise, we’ll have to see what kind of impact a potential boycott could have on the release of the sequel.
The upcoming Captain America film is set to hit theaters on February 14th, 2025 and will center on Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson as the new Captain America . Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Captain America: Brave New World news or any other updates regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
