Disney has certainly taken over its fair share of the streaming market with Disney Plus. Of course, subscribers likely already know they own plenty of other streaming services as well. The “House of Mouse” also maintains Hulu and ESPN Plus. Now a major change is happening to their streaming services, and Disney subscribers are going to hate it.
As the competition between streaming services continues to grow, subscribers have seen plenty of changes in the industry. This includes a loss of content, price increases, and more recently a crackdown on password sharing. Disney has played their part in all of these changes.
Now, subscribers are beginning to be informed by the next such change. Specifically, subscribers to Hulu began receiving an email regarding an updated subscriber agreement.
Here’s what the email revealed via THR:
“Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household,” the change to the agreement stated. “‘Household’ means the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein.”
It’s been stated by the agreement, which was dated January 25, that these changes will go into effect for Hulu on March 14. Additionally, the statement shared the following:
“We may, in our sole discretion, analyze the use of your account to determine compliance with this Agreement,” it continues. “If we determine, in our sole discretion, that you have violated this Agreement, we may limit or terminate access to the Service and/or take any other steps as permitted by this Agreement.”
This agreement follows a similar one that was sent out to Disney Plus subscribers late last year. ESPN Plus is also set to receive the same change as shared by the agreement from Disney dated on January 25.
