It’s become quite trendy to create horror films based on public domain characters. One of the first films to really kickstart this trend was none other than Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Naturally, as slasher films often do, this film has now spawned a sequel – Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 – and you can see the trailer below.
One of the most exciting aspects about this sequel is that it’s said to have a much bigger budget than the first film. This means that we’ll have redesigned characters in addition to newcomers. One such newcomer, given that he is now in the public domain as well, will be Tigger.
Fans were quite eager to have Tigger be part of the terror caused by Pooh and Piglet. Now, as you can see below, he seems to fit in just fine. Fans can also expect to see Owl in the film which should lend another gnarly new interpretation for the story.
Here’s the official Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 trailer:
As mentioned, this definitely looks like a sequel that will be bigger and better than the original. Many horror films, take Terrifier 2 for example, tend to build upon their predecessors. So hopefully this is a step in the right direction for a brand that seems to be doing quite well for itself.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield returned to direct the film following his work on the first Blood and Honey installment. The screenplay for the sequel was penned by Matt Leslie.
The cast includes Tallulah Evans, Scott Chambers as Christopher Robin, Ryan Oliva as Winnie-the-Pooh, and Peter DeSouza-Feighoney as Young Pooh.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional horror news, including updates for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, as we have them. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this film compares with its predecessor. Especially given the increase in scale and carnage.
