Disney seems to have no problem cancelling their television shows – even if they happen to be acclaimed by critics. As such, it might be disappointing for fans to hear that another Disney series has just been axed – after three such critically acclaimed seasons.
The series was a Disney Channel adventure series. Unfortunately, it won’t be receiving a fourth season, which is devastating for some to hear. Especially when considering the potential for its plots revolving around time travel and some very intriguing mysteries – which always leads for interesting and unexpected events to unfold.
It is also worth nothing that this happens to be the second Disney Channel series to be canceled in less than a month. The other show to be axed is the Jessie spin-off series Bunk’d, which made it to seven seasons. So, as fans are already aware, show cancellations are nothing new.
The series in question, though, according to Deadline, is none other than Secrets of Sulphur Springs. The highly-acclaimed series was created, written, and executive produced by Tracey Thomson. It includes such elements as time travel, ghosts, and other supernatural occurrences.
The cast of the series included Preston Oliver, Josh Braaten, Kelly Frye, Landon Gordon, and Madeleine McGraw. It also starred Elle Graham and Kyliegh Curran.
Secrets of Sulphur Springs first premiered on Disney Channel on January 15, 2021. In 2022, it was nominated for “Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Series” at the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards.
The final episode of the hit series aired on May 5, 2023. Given the year between the final episode of its third season and now, it’s been quite a wait to learn that the series is now over. In addition to Thomson’s role as an executive producer, the series was also executive produced by Charles Pratt Jr. who served as showrunner for the show. The series was produced by Gwave Productions.
