Celebrity Taylor Swift has been quite popular throughout the majority of her career. Of course, she’s found new waves of success with the release of her Eras Tour. Now, according to a new poll, it looks like Taylor Swift could even influence the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
The poll was recently conducted over at Newsweek. The publication adds that she’s “arguably the most famous person in America,” and while acknowledging that Swift has “largely avoided politics,” they question if “her stratospheric fame raises questions about whether an endorsement from the pop star could help decide the next president.”
As such, the poll, which was conducted via Redfield & Wilton Strategies for the publication, has determined that “18 percent of voters say they’re ‘more likely’ or ‘significantly more likely’ to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift.”
On that note, “seventeen percent said they would be less likely to vote for a Swift-backed candidate, while 55 percent would be neither more nor less likely to do so.” Overall, “45 percent said they were fans of the singer, and 54 percent said they were not. Only 6 percent said they were not familiar with Swift.”
This survey was conducted earlier this month on January 18, and featuring a margin of error of plus or minus 2.53 percent, and is said to have had a sample size of 1,500 eligible voters. As such, it’s quite interesting to see the results at play.
James Haggerty, a communications consultant, shared the following statement in response regarding Swift and her star power:
“She’s influenced popular culture, sports, the economics of entire regions of the U.S.,” he shares. “So why not politics and elections?
It’s certainly interesting to consider the possibilities, though as of this writing, Swift has yet to release a comment on the matter. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any potential presidential election updates and other news regarding Taylor Swift as we have it.
