The DC Universe is set to deliver all-new live-action interpretations of DC’s most exciting superheroes and supervillains. The first film to do so will be James Gunn’s upcoming 2025 feature Superman: Legacy. As such, we’ve been receiving some exciting casting announcements, and now it’s been confirmed which actress will be portraying Supergirl in the DCU.
It’s worth noting that it’s unknown if Supergirl will make her DCU debut in Superman: Legacy or another upcoming project. Either way, she’s supposed to appear in a DC project one way or another before headlining her own film titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Fans will be quite excited to know that a very popular House of the Dragon star has acquired the role. It definitely has fans on the internet quite happy – which is certainly a surprise in this day and age.
The star portraying Supergirl for the DCU will be none other than Milly Alcock, according to Deadline. This was further confirmed by Superman: Legacy director James Gunn. As you can see below, he took to Instagram to share the good news. His caption revealed some more of the details:
“This is accurate,” Gunn begins. “Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira.”
