The Jurassic Park film franchise has grown to include a whopping six films, an animated television series, and an additional animated series currently in the works. Now it’s been revealed that a seventh Jurassic Park movie, aka Jurassic World 4, is in the works.
Perhaps even more excitingly, however, is that David Koepp is tapped to write the screenplay for Jurassic World 4. Fans will recognize Koepp for having written the screenplay of Jurassic Park, based on the novel by Michael Crichton, and The Lost World: Jurassic Park II, likewise based on the follow-up novel by Crichton.
The following films were no longer based on any existing works and featured a number of different screenwriters. As such, following the mixed reception to the Jurassic World trilogy, this is an exciting moment for Jurassic Park fans. Especially when the original movie and its sequel are often considered the best offerings from the franchise.
Here’s what was shared via THR:
“The project, which has been flying under the radar, is far enough along, and the script in a well-liked shape, that the studio is whispering of a possible 2025 release date.”
Other details regarding the project are scarce, though it’s been considered the beginning for “a new Jurassic era.” As such, it looks like we could expect to see a new storyline with different characters and settings. And if they’re aiming for a potential 2025 release date – then we could expect to have more details in the near future.
As mentioned, however, this is far from the only upcoming Jurassic Park project on the way. Fans can also look forward to Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, an animated continuation of Netflix’s other animated series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, which took place during the events of the Jurassic World trilogy.
