Subscribers have been offered a wealth of different films and shows to watch by Netflix, as the streaming platform features both original projects and those based on popular IPs. Now it looks like Netflix will be rebooting a popular series that ended years ago.
It’s worth noting, however, that this particular series isn’t the first of its kind. Netflix featured the premieres of two Nickelodeon revivals in 2019 – Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus.
Unlike those two endeavors, however, which happened to be feature films, the latest reboot will actually be a new series. This new series was revealed in a leak.
As it turns out, Netflix is said to have plans for a revival of The Fairly OddParents. The animated series ran from 2001 to 2017. A live-action spin-off series was later produced for Paramount Plus, though it was pulled in early 2023. Now a new animated series, titled The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, will be the latest entry in the franchise.
Here’s what Whats-On-Netflix.com shared regarding the new show’s alleged premise:
“The new series will ditch Timmy Turner in favor of a new protagonist, Hazel Wells, a 10-year-old girl living in Dimmadelphia. She recently moved to the city as her Dad has gotten a new job and is now without her brother, who has moved away to college.”
Additionally, Susane Blakeslee and Daran Norris will return as the voices of Wanda and Cosmo, respectively. They are the two fairies that granted Timmy’s wishes over the years and now we’ll see them do the same for Hazel Wells. It’s been reported that Ashleigh Crystal Hairston will voice Hazel.
Butch Hartman and Fred Seibert are attached as executive producers on the project.
Hopefully we’ll have some concrete details regarding this project shared in the near future. As for now, it looks like Fairly OddParents fans should expect Netflix to be rebooting this series soon. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates as we have them.
