Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield appears to have launched a subgenre consisting of a public domain horror universe with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The Winnie the Pooh iteration has already spawned an upcoming sequel, but now numerous horror movies are in the works based on such characters. This now includes Pinocchio: Unstrung.
The upcoming film’s first look is actually taken from the credits featured in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. The upcoming film teases “out the expansion” of its own universe.
There seem to be plenty of other surprises in store, as producers for the upcoming sequel shared the following statement:
“Unannounced characters from the universe will be revealed in sketch drawings in the closing credits of Pooh 2 so keep an eye out!”
Now here’s the first look at the upcoming film that will be featured in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2:

Fans can also expect the director and cast to be announced shortly. The plans for the film is that Pinocchio: Unstrung will go into production this summer in 2024 and will then be released later this year in theaters. Details beyond that are being kept under wraps for now, but this is certainly interesting news as a new franchise begins development.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was a surprisingly successful film, albeit with a low budget, and it’s clear that the filmmakers hope to up the ante with its sequel. Now we’ll see a series of other public domain characters receive a similar treatment.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on Pinocchio: Unstrung and the other films in this public domain horror universe, including Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, as we have them. In the meantime, the first look at the upcoming Pinocchio horror film certainly makes the movie look like it will fit right in.
