There have been plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows released on Disney Plus in the last few years. Some of these have received additional seasons, such as Loki, while others paved the way for new projects like the upcoming Captain America film. Now a different Disney Plus series has just received an update that will be disappointing for fans of the show.
It’s clear that Marvel Studios has different plans for each project they create. Some of these lead into other shows, some into new movies, and others turn into crossovers. Of course, with so many possibilities at stake, it doesn’t take much to see them turned into one-offs either.
Now, as shared on a Twitch stream via Codenames LIVE! – The New Class, the star of this particular Disney Plus series has opened up about its future. As mentioned, however, it’s not looking too bright.
Tatiana Maslany starred in the Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law as the show’s titular character, aka Jennifer Walters, which brought her into the fray as Bruce Banner’s cousin. There were plenty of mixed reactions to her character and the more comedic aspects of her show, but nevertheless, quite a few fans hoped for her return.
Now, while appearing on the aforementioned Twitch stream, she was asked if we could expect more episodes of She-Hulk in the future. Here’s the update she gave on that front:
“I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget,” she joked. “And Disney was like, ‘No thanks.'”
Of course, Marvel Studios and Disney have been reassessing their projects and the respective budgets that go with them. It’s clear that Disney Plus might require them to hold back for future Marvel projects, and after the creative shift with Daredevil: Born Again, we’re starting to see the outcome of these decisions.
Interestingly, while the official budget for She-Hulk has yet to be revealed, estimates pin it around $225 million. At that cost, it’s not hard to see why this particular Disney Plus title might be too costly to bring back for another season. Hopefully, however, it’s not the last we see of Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters in the MCU.
