Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has become a recurring character throughout the MCU. He’s already appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and more recently Echo. As he continues production for his own series, Daredevil: Born Again, it looks like two major characters from the Netflix series will be returning.
It was initially announced that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil would be back along with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin when Marvel Studios began work on Daredevil: Born Again. The new Disney Plus series was expected to be a revival of its Netflix predecessor. Of course, it was unknown whether or not the events of these Netflix shows would remain canon, and what other roles from the respective projects might be revived for the MCU.
Additionally, in the midst of production on Daredevil: Born Again, it was revealed that the series would be restructured with a new creative team. This was followed by the recent confirmation that all of the Netflix shows would remain canon within the greater MCU. Now another announcement confirms that Daredevil: Born Again will have close ties with its Netflix predecessor given the return of two major characters.
Though Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were both set to return, fans were eager to know about the fates of characters Franklin “Foggy” Nelson and Karen Page played by Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll, respectively. It was unclear if they would be left behind as part of an alternate timeline or if they still existed within the MCU proper.
Now, according to insider Jeff Sneider, both Foggy and Karen are set to return as characters in Daredevil: Born Again. Additionally the two will once again be played by Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll. This is reportedly a result of the creative overhaul, and as such, it’s unknown how big their roles will be. But it’ll certainly make fans of the Netflix era quite happy to hear.
As always, we’ll also have to take this news with a grain of salt until Marvel Studios makes an official announcement. But considering the other changes made by the studio so far, it certainly seems like a safe bet.
A release date for the Disney Plus series has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the production of Daredevil: Born Again as we have them. It’s certainly shaping up to be an interesting new iteration for the fan-favorite superhero.
