Marvel Studios is slowly reintroducing characters from Marvel’s Netflix shows into the greater MCU. This began with the reintroduction of Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin in Hawkeye. Now, with projects like Daredevil: Born Again in the works, it looks like a new Iron Fist could be joining the MCU. This time, however, they’re reported to be female.
The character Iron Fist first made their MCU debut in the Netflix series of the same name. It included Finn Jones as the titular character, aka Danny Rand, and helped pave the way for 2017’s crossover miniseries The Defenders. Now, however, a rumor suggests that someone else could take over the mantle from Jones’s Danny Rand character.
This rumor comes from insider @CanWeGetToast via Toonado. And, according to their report, this female iteration of Iron Fist would be a completely new character rather than someone from the comics. We’ve already seen Marvel Studios introduce original superheroes in What If…?, so it’s not surprising if they decided to do it again for Iron Fist.
For this particular iteration, however, all the rumor states is that they’d be a female named Janora working with a Wakandan warrior named Basha. Additionally, it seems as though they’d make their debut in the upcoming animated series Eyes of Wakanda. As the name suggests, the new series is a spin-off of the successful Black Panther film franchise.
The premise for the series is as follows:
“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.”
Though this would be an alleged animated appearance for the character, it seems to set the stage for a live-action appearance at a further point in time. This also lines up with rumors that Jones’s Danny Rand would be replaced anyway. As such, we’ll have to see if that comes to pass and if his new replacement will be this original female character or someone else.
