As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, fans are discussing which superheroes and supervillains they hope to see. Of course, in addition to these discussions, there are plenty of reports and rumors to fuel the fire. One such rumor suggested that actor Ryan Gosling is in talks to join the MCU – potentially as Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider.
Many fans have been eager to see Ghost Rider added to the MCU. The character was previously included in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., of course, fans were only treated to the Robbie Reyes version of the character. And, as Marvel Studios steers away from its earlier television endeavors, it only makes sense that Johnny Blaze would become the studio’s next focus.
Now, as you can see below, Ryan Gosling has been interpreted as the Johnny Blaze interpretation of Ghost Rider. This iteration is perhaps the most popular version of Ghost Rider, even within adaptations, as he was previously the basis for Nicolas Cage‘s Ghost Rider movies. The concept images below have placed Ryan Gosling into the role, however, with interpretations for both his human and Ghost Rider looks.
“There have been talks about Ryan Gosling joining the MCU, with rumors of him playing characters like Sentry and Silver Surfer being among the suggestions,” artist @21xfour writes. “Personally, I thought he would be a great Nova.”
The artist then reveals what made him change his mind. As it turns out, his performance in Drive and the upcoming film The Fall Guy made him realize Johnny Blaze would be a much better choice for Gosling to play.
“However, after seeing him in ‘Drive‘ and watching the trailer for his new movie, ‘The Fall Guy,’ I couldn’t help but think how perfect he’d be as Johnny Blaze, a.k.a. Ghost Rider. I’m even calling him GOSRIDER! Whatever role he ends up playing, I’m sure we’re in for a treat. Who do you think he should play?”
Here’s are the concept photos below:

Of course, this should all be taken with a grain of salt. It’s unconfirmed whether or not Ryan Gosling actually is in talks with Marvel Studios – much less if he’d play Ghost Rider. Nevertheless, fans would definitely love to see the character in the MCU, and what better choice than Gosling himself? Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any updates as we have them.
