George Santos recently spoke with Ziwe Fumudoh for a new interview. The two’s conversation eventually led to the upcoming HBO biopic that’s presumably about Santos and his life. Interestingly, he had some rather strong feelings to share about the biopic.
The discussion regarding the biopic began when Ziwe asked Santos if he would like Bowen Yang to play him in the upcoming project. Yang previously portrayed his impression of Santos for Saturday Night Live.
“I think he deserves an EGOT,” shares Santos regarding the impression. As for the upcoming biopic, however, he had this to say when asked about Yang playing him:
“That movie is not ever going to happen,” Santos answered. “The book has no perspective of me or anybody close to me. It’s a f***ing fiction.”
Here’s the complete interview between Ziwe and Santos:
He also had this to say following his discussion with Ziwe via Washington Post:
“Obviously, she’s a comedian, right? She came for me,” Santos said. “She had funny puns, and you know she was witty with it. But I want to think that I held my own. And I had fun with it, too. And, you know, I clapped back a little bit. It was an interesting, different type of environment that I’ve grown accustomed to with the political teams, The Washington Post and CNN and all of them.”
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any potential updates regarding George Santos and the upcoming HBO biopic as we have them. According to Santos the movie won’t be happening, but we’ll just have to see what HBO manages to cook up nonetheless.
The film was announced earlier this month when it was shared that HBO Films optioned the rights to The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos, a book written by Mark Chiusano.
Frank Rich is set to produce the film while Mike Makowsky will be writing the screenplay. Both will executive produce while author Chiusano will serve as a consulting producer on the project.
