The DCU is intended to be an all-new continuity separated from the DCEU. However, there have been reports that there could be some crossover between the two franchises. As for one of the newer members of the DCEU, however, it appears they’ll be recast for the DCU.
James Gunn and Peter Safran are leading the DCU as the newly-appointed co-heads of DC Studios. The new shared universe, fully titled the DC Universe, is set to begin with the live-action film Superman: Legacy in 2025. This particular film is expected to introduce some of the faces that we’ll be seeing throughout the franchise.
This includes David Corenswet as Superman aka Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. It’s also been revealed that Nicholas Hoult will be the franchise’s new Lex Luthor. Obviously all of these actors are replacing their DCEU counterparts – Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Jesse Eisenberg.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, however, another member who was just added to the DCEU will be recast in the DCU. This might not be surprising, but considering how positively received her character has become, it’s still disappointing for many.
Richtman claims that Sasha Calle, who played Supergirl in 2023’s The Flash, will be recast in the DCU. It’s unknown who will be playing the new Supergirl, but Richtman goes on to say that a new actress will be chosen to portray the character in Superman: Legacy.
According to Daniel RPK, Supergirl will appear in ‘SUPERMAN: LEGACY’ and they are currently casting the character.

It’s worth noting that a Supergirl film, titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, is also in development. A release date for the DCU film has not yet been given, but it’s likely that it will continue the adventures of whoever becomes the recast Superman: Legacy’s Supergirl. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon.
