In the continuously-expanding world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can always count on something to happen that you might not expect. The latest rumor is no different – as it suggests that a familiar but surprise Marvel character could make a return to the MCU in Avengers 5.
As fans already know, Jonathan Majors is no longer involved with the property. Marvel Studios parted ways with the actor after he was found guilty of assault and harassment. However, it sounds like Marvel still has plans for the character he once portrayed.
Obviously this information should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially since the usage of Kang The Conqueror would likely require a major recast. Nevertheless, the character may reappear in a future installment.
Daniel Richtman claims that Kang could still appear in Avengers 5. The movie was initially intended to be Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which would lead directly into Avengers: Secret Wars. The Secret Wars story is now rumored to simply be stretched into two movies, but Kang the Conqueror could still appear at some point.
Here’s what was shared about Kang returning to the MCU:
“The idea is to include Kang in some capacity in Avengers 5. The plan is to start shooting in 2024, now specifically late 2024,” said Daniel RPK. “They are searching for a director and one should be announced in the coming months. The first Avengers movie will have a more limited amount of Avengers.”
Once again, this should all be taken with a grain of salt. We’ll have to see what Marvel Studios has planned for these films to know for certain what decisions they’ve made. Though if they choose to turn Avengers 5 into one of two Secret Wars films, then it’s likely that Kang’s role will be greatly reduced regardless of what happens.
