The Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving towards another Avengers double-feature. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame excited audiences with their two-part story that put an end to the Infinity Saga. Now fans will experience a similar conclusion with another double-feature that includes Avengers: Secret Wars and an exciting new villain.
The double-feature was initially intended to also include Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. This film is expected to precede and set the stage for Secret Wars. Of course, given the legal troubles with Jonathan Majors and other behind-the-scenes shakeups, it’s unknown how that particular entry will turn out. Majors was attached to portray Kang the Conqueror, a role he’s already played several times in the MCU, though he’s since been fired.
Nevertheless, given the addition of Avengers: Secret Wars, a new villain could easily take the stage. In fact, according to insider @MyTimeToShineH on X, this is exactly Marvel’s plans. Of course, this information should be taken with a grain of salt. But given what we do know about Secret Wars from the comics, the MCU’s use of the Multiverse, and Majors’ legal issues, it does make sense.
According to their post on X, the new film will actually use a different villain to “be their excuse to recast Kang.” However, it’s not Kang the Conqueror that will actually be the main antagonist. Fans can presumably expect another villain from the comics to take that role.
“Beyonder is still the main villain for Secret Wars,” the insider reveals. And, with the addition of The Beyonder, Marvel Studios should be able to write themselves out of the rabbit hole with Kang. After all, Majors’ character was being introduced as a major foe in the next phase of the MCU.

Obviously we’ll have to wait and see how the plans develop from here. But The Beyonder is a fan-favorite comic villain and one with plenty of potential for Marvel Studios to shape as they see fit. Hopefully, then, everything will work out for Secret Wars to be the best crossover event yet.
