Netflix has been quite successful with bringing attention to international films. Of course, plenty of these Netflix offerings have been horror and thriller related, and it looks like one such movie is shocking audiences.
As shared below, there are numerous social media posts surfacing on X regarding the film. The support these movies find online are often what allows them to find an audience to begin with, and if the positive reception so far is any indication, then it looks like the movie is indeed becoming a streaming hit.
The film, titled Naga, is a Saudi Arabia production from director Meshal Al Jaser. There aren’t many horror films from this area, at least not many that gain the same kind of attention as Naga. But it’s clear that the film’s unique premise has connected with audiences – even those as far as the United States.
The synopsis for the film is quite simple:
“Stranded in the desert after a secret party,” the synopsis reads, “a young woman must get past a vindictive camel – and worse – to make it home before curfew.”
It’s a premise like this that can immediately draw a viewer in. And perhaps it’s the unexpected events that occur which appeal to viewers far from Saudi Arabia. After all, it’s an interesting look at the culture of the area and what they might consider scary.
Here are some of the social media responses to the film, which continue to call Naga “a bizarre, chaotic, hilarious and often downright terrifying nightmare odyssey through the desert.”
Holy shit, Meshal Al Jaser’s NAGA is insane – a bizarre, chaotic, hilarious and often downright terrifying nightmare odyssey through the desert. Netflix buried this so make sure you check it out before making those year end lists!! 🐪 pic.twitter.com/HkPib6Hu03

Watched NAGA – this Saudi Arabian thriller where a girl goes into the desert for this party and ends up on this vaguely psychedelic crazed chase all through the night… really creative. Stylish as fuck. A fun weird ride, just eye-catching. It’s on Netflix.

NAGA’s pretty good. A creepy/funny Saudi Arabian drug/road trip chiller. (The camels are not what they seem…) Lost in the desert, surrounded by ordinary monsters & super-creeps. It’s a shame that Netflix doesn’t advertise “international” titles like NAGA…worth seeking out. https://t.co/M3Vy1fdpou

Would love to see more year-end award bodies consider the Saudi Arabian movie Naga. A dark and funny descent into hell that feels inspired by Scorsese, Lynch and the Coens. It’s on Netflix now (change the audio to its original Arab track).

“Naga” is an ambitious Saudi film Directed by the immensely talented @MeshalALjaser
Interesting storytelling, and to see such impressive camerawork in a Saudi film makes me hugely proud of what we’re achieving here.
Please give Naga a watch on Netflix. pic.twitter.com/pxX0z6IoG6
