There are plenty of movies associated with the Christmas season. Many of these are rather obvious with their associations to the holiday. Others, however, are not. These movies, such as Die Hard, have been debated for years. Now Bruce Willis’s kids have set the record straight regarding Die Hard and the Christmas debate.
Bruce Willis starred in the aforementioned 1988 action film. His character, John McClane, has become an action genre icon with Willis having reprised the role several times over his career. As such, his kids are a proper enough authority on the subject.
Now, with Christmas coming up, Bruce Willis‘s kids have come together to share their thoughts. As shared by one of his daughters, Rumer Willis, on her Instagram story, via GFR. “I’ve collected all three Willis girls,” she writes. Rumer, 35, was joined by 32-year-old Scout and 29-year-old Tallulah.
The video, taken in Rumer’s car, was captioned with the following text:
“Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?”
Scout answers the caption with the following:
“It’s a f***ing Christmas movie. It takes place during Christmas.”
Rumer concludes with the following:
“It’s a Christmas movie.”
Indeed, Die Hard does use a number of Christmas-themed tropes throughout its runtime. While the majority of the film plays out like a traditional 1980’s action film, there are plenty of references to the holiday. And, of course, the obvious setting of the film which does take place on Christmas Eve.
But it’s debates like these that keep audiences talking about the respective films they’re centered around. And, if nothing else, that’s the sign of a great movie that always has something new to offer. And considering that the Die Hard brand has existed as a successful franchise in the years since, it’s also much more than a simple Christmas debate as well.
In conclusion, who doesn’t love celebrating Christmas with the sight of Alan Rickman’s Hans Gruber falling off the Nakatomi Plaza?
