The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around for more than a decade now. The shared universe of movie and television projects have culminated in some very iconic movies and scenes over the years, including 2012’s The Avengers. Now Marvel Studios has paid tribute to this very film while introducing a new team of Avengers.
Of course, we’ve seen plenty of crossovers in the MCU since that 2012 entry was released. At that time, however, a major comic book crossover on that level was unheard of. Now Marvel Studios is spicing things up once again with their all-new Avengers team.
As you can see below, Marvel Studios revealed a new team for the next season of Marvel’s What If…?. The animated Disney Plus series explores the alternate versions of fans’ favorite Marvel stories under the umbrella of the Multiverse. Thus we see some very interesting scenarios, and as shared here, it looks like several key Avengers are missing to create this new team.
The team is presented in a scene that’s nearly identical to the “Avengers Assemble” sequence from the 2012 film. However, a few characters have been replaced by new additions. Specifically Captain Carter replaces Captain America and The Wasp replaces The Hulk.
Now fans can see that the new superhero team includes Hawkeye, Thor, Captain Carter, Iron Man, The Wasp, and Black Widow. Here’s the new sneak peek:
