The Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving forward with their introduction of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. The fan-favorite portrayal of the iconic X-Men comic book character has become one of the highlights of the X-Men film franchise. Fortunately, Disney’s Marvel Studios will be transferring the character to their MCU, though it looks like Disney just made a major change to Deadpool 3.
The upcoming sequel is currently in production for a release in 2024. There have been several setbacks as a result of the recent SAG-AFTRA strike, though everyone is clearly doing their best to make the deadlines they have in front of them. As such, Disney has just given the film a new title for marketing distribution purposes.
As shared via CBM, Disney is no longer referring to the film as “Deadpool 3” as so many fans and outlets have been. This does seem to indicate that a more official title announcement is on the way. For now, however, they have a much more simple alternative:
“Untitled Deadpool Movie“
Hopefully this means we’ll have more news regarding the highly-anticipated sequel in the near future. After all, with a 2024 release date, and production ongoing, it seems likely more details will come to light sooner than later. In the meantime, this is an exciting glimpse into Disney’s preparations to begin marketing and tease that an official title could be revealed soon.
The upcoming sequel is set to feature Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, with the two characters coming into contact with a number of other characters from Fox’s Marvel adaptations and those from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. It’s definitely going to be a wild ride and we can only hope that the studio figures out the right title to match.
Fans will be able to see the new Deadpool sequel when it hits theaters on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated MCU crossover as we have them.
