Disney has been making major changes with the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s upcoming release schedule. Every movie set for 2024, for example, was removed other than Deadpool 3. Now an upcoming MCU series has been delayed – and it could be that Marvel is rather unhappy.
As shared in September, the MCU series was delayed from being released in 2024 altogether. This is where things get interesting. It was stated at the time that the show was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes. According to a new rumor, however, it’s more so because of Disney‘s unhappiness with the project.
What we do know is that Dominique Thorne, who played Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was set to reprise her role for the Disney Plus series Ironheart. As the titular character, fans were eager to see where her story was headed.

Although this should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s not exactly a far-fetched rumor. After all, Disney did publicly confirm that Daredevil: Born Again was going to be reworked after they decided on a new approach for their television content. It could be very possible that Disney is aiming to apply this same approach to Ironheart in an effort to better fit the series in their new plans.
Ultimately, we’ll just have to see how development continues on the project. In the meantime, there are still several other MCU shows scheduled for 2024 in addition to the theatrical release of Deadpool 3. These include the live-action projects Echo, Agatha, and the animated X-Men ’97.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the delayed Marvel MCU series Ironheart as we have them. Hopefully more official details regarding the fate of the project will be released soon. It’s definitely going to be an interesting time for Marvel pushing forward.
