Fans are eagerly awaiting the next iteration of Stephen King’s IT, the iconic novel which was recently adapted as two feature length films in 2017 and 2019. Now the two features will be followed with a prequel television series titled Welcome to Derry. As you can see below, the first look at the series has been revealed in a new teaser.
Of course, given that fans will have to wait quite some time for the full series to be released, there isn’t much footage to spot. And, to that end, there still aren’t any real plot details available. But it’s expected that the series will take place decades before the events of the two feature films.
The footage does seem to imply that a group of children will once again be the focus of the show. Which, of course, makes sense given that Pennywise has a desire to feed on the fear of children rather than adults. Only time will tell if they’ll have the same charm as our beloved Losers’ Club.
Here’s the official footage released for Welcome to Derry:

Additionally, the clip does appear to be rather faithful stylistically to the two feature films. Fortunately, the series does feature the involvement of IT: Chapter One and IT: Chapter Two director Andy Muschietti. So it’s clear that they hope to recreate the same aesthetic and atmosphere that made those two films so successful.
