The BBC series Doctor Who has always been recognized as a progressive example of sci-fi entertainment. In more recent years, however, the show began facing backlash for being interpreted as “woke” entertainment. Now Doctor Who is facing backlash on X for an episode where an alien is asked for its pronouns.
As you can see below, actor David Tennant returns as his fan-favorite version of The Doctor for the latest episode. The episode happens to be one of three that all celebrate the series for its 60th anniversary. Tennant’s Doctor finds himself helping an alien named “The Meep” for the occasion.
At a certain point, however, he asks the character – voiced by Miriam Margolyes – what its pronouns are. This happens when the Doctor begins by stating the following:
“Yes, The Meep, I promised I can help him to get home.”
The Doctor’s sidekick Rose Noble, played by transgender male-to-female actor Yasmin Finney, then tells the Doctor to ask the alien for its pronouns.
“You’re assuming ‘he’ as a pronoun?”
“True. Yes, sorry, good point,” Tennant’s Doctor replies. “Are you he, she, or they?”
“Everything Woke turns to Shit”
– Donald Trump.
Here is a latest scene from the BBC’s Doctor Who, where a Non-binary character meets an alien & they/them 1st reaction is to ask for pronouns.
Normal people are sick of this nonsense. pic.twitter.com/VutBk8YBuo

A similar scene was also heavily criticized on social media. This one again features Rose Noble, though this time her comments are pointed directly towards The Doctor, who notes that he is “male-presenting” and for that reason “will never understand.”
Dr Who becomes Dr Woke.
Transgender actor playing the doctors sidekick calls Dr Who ‘male-presenting.’
“You’ve got all that power. But there is a way to get rid of it.
Something a male-presenting time lord will never understand.”

Here are some of the complaints shared in response to that particular scene:
So I just watched the new #DoctorWho episode. It would have been fine. But no we had to throw more political woke bullshit agenda into the show. Then rip on every male Time Lord because they weren’t a woman & women are better 🖕#FuckDisney & #FuckTheBBC for this shite🖕 pic.twitter.com/BAiRMeGhR0

Doctor Who episode this evening featured a discussion about “chosen pronouns”. TV drama has become a relentless moral lecture delivered by woke producers and executives. Nutters, frankly.

When even the BBC had had enough of #DoctorWho.

Its wild that they brought Dave Tennant back, arguably the most popular Doctor in the franchise, just to shit all over him like a San Francisco sidewalk, to make the point that the WOMAN before him was the “best Doctor” in the franchise.#RIPDoctorWho

These two clips are definitely interesting examples of how Doctor Who continues to maintain a progressive perspective in today’s landscape. Of course, many viewers have mixed feelings about these particular themes, especially because they’re so different than themes featured in the show’s early days.
