The Grand Theft Auto video game franchise has been one of the most popular video game brands for as long as 25 years. Now, a decade following the release of Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games has officially released the trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6.
Rockstar Games initially had the trailer scheduled to be released tomorrow. However, due to a leak on social media, fans were already finding and sharing the footage. As such, Rockstar made the decision to simply release the official trailer today.
Now, as you can see below, there are quite a few surprises in the upcoming title. For starters, it looks like the game will include the franchise’s first female protagonist. Additionally, her story, shared with her lover, appears to be a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired tale of two criminals making their way through Vice City.
Vice City has long been a popular location for the video game franchise. Of course, it’s been more than a few years since a new game took place there. Especially since Grand Theft Auto V was notably set in the Los Santos area.
Here’s the official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI:
For those hoping the game would be ready for a release next year, however, they’ll have to keep waiting. The trailer confirms that the release date for the game is scheduled for 2025. This means that the game will be released 12 years after Grand Theft Auto V.
Some fans are disappointed to know how long they’ll have to wait, as revealed in some social media posts. Others, however, are confident in giving Rockstar Games the time they need to make the game as perfect as possible. If the trailer is any indication of quality, however, it certainly looks like it’ll be worth it for fans of the franchise.
