In a new casting announcement, a surprising actor has been chosen to play a younger version of former President Donald Trump in the upcoming movie The Apprentice. With production already underway, fans have been divided over the actor’s portrayal of the controversial figure.
Production on the movie is said to have commenced last week. The overall plot of the film revolves around “an exploration of power and ambition, set in a world of corruption and deceit.”
“The Apprentice will examine Trump’s efforts to build his real estate business in New York in the ’70s and ’80s, also digging into his relationship with infamous attorney Roy Cohn. It’s a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of a major American dynasty.”
This news comes via Deadline, where they confirmed that Sebastian Stan will be joining the cast of the film as Donald Trump. Cannes prize-winning Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi is set to direct the picture which also stars Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jeremy Strong and Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova.

Fans often associate actor Sebastian Stan with his role as the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now he’s going to be surprising audiences with his latest role. Sebastian Stan is now set to play a young version of Donald Trump in the upcoming film The Apprentice.
While the Winter Soldier star will be playing Donald Trump, Strong is expected to play Roy Cohn, and Bakalova set to play Trump’s first wife, Ivana.
In addition to Abbasi as the film’s director, The Apprentice was penned by Gabriel Sherman, known for having written the bestseller book The Loudest Voice in the Room. Daniel Beckerman of Scythia Films, Jacob Jerek of Profile Pictures, and Ruth Treacy of Taylored Films will all produce. Grant Johnson, Gabriel Sherman, and Amy Baer are executive producers.
